Bio

Julia Xanthos is a multimedia journalist on the photography staff at The New York Daily News. Her work has been recognized by the NPPA's Best of Photojournalism, Pictures of the Year International, New York Press Photographers Association, New Jersey Press Photographers Association, LIFE Year in Pictures, and NPPA's Women in Photojournalism. In 2010 she was awarded a Front Page Award for her multimedia work by the Newswomen's Club of New York. Most recently Julia's videography earned her a National Headliner Award.
In 2001 she completed a B.A. in Art from the State University of New York at Albany with a concentration in Photography. After serving a term as the Vice President of The New York Press Photographers Association's she is currently on the Board of Trustees.
Julia was born in New York and grew up on Long Island. She now resides in Jersey City with her husband Aristide Economopoulos and their cats Nani and Java. The greatest joy in her life comes from spending time with her family.
